“We are thrilled to bring our Little Vets program to fruition, to educate and inspire kids that may be our future emergency veterinarians that care for family pets and other animals,” expressed Bessler in a company release. “The program is spearheaded by our awesome VEG emergency veterinarians and nurses that bring their real-life experience, passion and excitement to every class they teach.”

Designed for kids aged 7-9 years old, the Little Vets classes occur each week and are led by real VEG emergency veterinarians and nurses. In class, students will learn how to use real pet ER tools and medical equipment to diagnose and treat their very own pretend pet patients.

Each Little Vets class centers around a unique topic, from bones and blood to physical exams and surgery. Actual photos and videos of real pet patients and surgeries, true case studies, interactive games, and activities demonstrating what happens in the veterinary emergency room.

For over a decade, David Bessler, VMD, founder, and CEO of VEG, has been teaching a Little Vets class to young children at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, New York. The expansion of the Little Vets program includes the classes being hosted at public and private schools and at local nonprofits in New York and California.
