In honor of Black History Month, Adam Christman, DVM, MBA, and Courtney Campbell, DVM, DACVS-SA, sat down for a special episode of The Vet Blast Podcast to discuss what it means to be a Black veterinary professional. They also touch upon why it's the responsibility of those in the veterinary field to help improve access to care that all pet parents deserve for their beloved animals. The duo then takes some time to answer questions from The Vet Blast Podcast listeners, including a rapid-fire session.

Courtney Campbell, DVM, DACVS-SA: That word access to care, and what I like the fact you said is that it is front and center because putting it front in center has forced us to get close to access to care and when you really want to understand something, if you really want to get to know somebody, you have to get close to them, right?...and that is exactly what is happening now with access to care, we're getting close to that issue. We’re getting proximate to that issue and we are really starting to understand and one thing we understand when it comes to access of care is that it goes beyond geoproximity, right? It goes beyond the fact that there is not a hospital for 6 hours. That, by far, is a huge barrier to care.
