Fred Wininger, VMD, MS, DACVIM: [Using] intranasal midazolam and other benzodiazepines like Valium [can] stop seizures in their tracks and then we have other drugs that are often thought of as anesthetics like propofol that can be [a] very effective anti-seizure medication. But in the long term, our veterinary therapy is really about maximizing the utility of our long-term anticonvulsants and making sure that not only are they used to their best value, but with their highest safety as well.
