Attending a national veterinary conference offers big payoffs, but it often isn't free—unless you're one lucky team member
at Pet Care Veterinary Hospital in Virginia Beach, Va. Lori-Jo Havener, LVT, planned a contest to give the practice's technicians
and assistants a chance to attend a national veterinary conference. Contestants wrote an essay explaining why they wanted
to attend the conference, took a 10-question quiz covering technical and practice-oriented information, and submitted an original
timesaving practice tip. Havener and two doctors judged the contest.
"Most practices can't afford to send all of their team members to participate in CE opportunities," says Havener. "But the
contest opened the opportunity to the whole team."
