Our recommendations are inconsistent

Volume 3, Issue 3

Q. Our team members make different product recommendations for heartworm and flea and tick prevention. How do we get them on the same page?

Carol Schubert
"Call a meeting with your doctors and technicians to discuss which products they like and why," says Carol Schubert, MBA, RVT, CVPM, a Firstline Editorial Advisory Board member and co-owner of http://VetMedTeam.com/. "Then choose a single product you'll recommend in each category."

Before your team gets together for this discussion, explain that the goal is to reach agreement, because consistent medical recommendations offer the biggest benefits for pets and the practice. "It's also financially sound, because carrying one brand improves product turns," Schubert says. "Of course it's medically sound, because team members will offer convincing recommendations when they feel their advice is based on the pet's best interests."
