Pets at VCA Tanglewood Animal Hospital in Austin, Texas, don't need to be the next Bark Pitt or Catty Holmes to receive star treatment. Team members at the practice think their clients' pets are top dog, too, and they show it by selecting a pet from the appointment schedule as king or queen for a day. The team displays the patient's name on the reception counter and creates a goodie bag for the pet and its owner. The bags contain fun items, such as a leash, toys, treats, and a fun gift for the client, such as a notepad or calendar.

"Clients love the surprise and the attention," says Kelli Copeland, the hospital manager at VCA Tanglewood.
