Formula for weight loss in dogs

1. Ideal weight in pounds ÷ 2.2 = weight in kilograms

2. 30 (body weight in kilograms) + 70 = RER in kcal/day and calories to feed

Formula for weight loss in cats

1. Ideal weight in pounds ÷ 2.2 = weight in kilograms

2. 30 (ideal or target body weight in kilograms) + 70 = RER in kcal/day

3. RER in kcal/day × 0.8 = calories to feed
